The Southern Museum Mommy and Me Program

Best Feature:

Mr. Ken is so fabulous with the kids! This is not just a story time, yall! This is a mini preschool class that you observe and participate in. Every week is different! A different theme with a new story, a new craft, and new activities!

Worst Feature:

I had to think hard on this! I think that the only draw back is that since is it geared for the kids 3-5 (although many younger kids and younger siblings are there), the admission to the museum is $7.50 for the adult and $5.50 for kids 4 and up. That would be $13 each time for an adult and a four/five year old. THat could get pricey to go over and over. However, the memberships are reasonable and a much better deal if you plan on going over and over!

Overall assessment5 out of 5 Stars

This place is amazing! I don't know why I don't go more often! I have been twice. Yeah, its a little bit of a drive from Canton/Woodstock, but so worth it. You will not be disappointed! Mr. Ken gets to know the regular kiddos by name and greets them all. He is so good with the kids and creates such a fun environment for them! The place is so kid friendly and family friendly! Plus a park across the street to play and picnic! A great deal!

When we visited, the theme was The Busy Barnyard. They sung songs, read a farm books, and talked about the things a farmer has to do.

Reece’s Review (3 years old):

I sing songs and play and read a book and see my friends.

Special Features:

Each week is a different theme. It includes a circle time, a story, songs and movement, a craft, playtime, and the museum! The Education center is so amazing! It is all young child centered with a dress up area, train tables, soft play area for littles, and lots of see and touch exhibits! Also: Check out the HOMESCHOOL program. Yep, they do that too! Although that requires reservations, so book it up now!

Restrooms:

Clean, very easy to get to in the education center. ALSO... they have step stools for the sinks! Yall, that is such a plus for me and my 43 pound almost 4 year old!!!

Accessibility:

Very accessible for wheelchairs or special needs. Since parents never leave, I believe the group activities are very easy tailored to special needs.

Nearby Family Friendly Restaurant(s):

Big Pie in the Sky Pizza (This was on the TV Show Man vs Food)
This park is directly across the street from the Southern Museum. Although it does not appear on any of the Kennesaw Parks website... it exists! AND there is a SUPER cool Pedestrian Tunnel that goes under the train tracks!
